Very early French Bayol horse from the 1800's. 43" tall, 37" long. Wooden carved body, hollow sheet metal neck and cast metal head. Charming figure that is historically interesting as the painted-on trappings are probably the beginnings of the Bayol carving style of scalloped breast strap and distinctive crupper. The mane has the signature curl of the later and very large swan-necked Bayols. In original paint. Hair tail will be included. $1,800.
